Effective ways to prepare for your AIME test
AIME prep can be daunting. But you
just need to prepare properly to be able to sit for your test. AIME is the
American Invitational Math Exam. It is an invitational exam for the top-scoring
learners from AMC 12 and AMC 10. It’s a fifteen-question and three-hour exam.
Each answer given is an integer number between zero and nine hundred and ninety-nine.
Top-scoring
students on the exam are invited to take the USMO or the USAJMO. Starting in
the year 2022, it is offered in February. The second exam in a series of
contests that lead to the International Olympiad is the AIME.
Preparation
Just
like any other exam, you need to prepare for AIME to increase your chances of
passing and being invited to the next contest. AIME preparation takes
different forms. All of the courses have self-study formats. You can
participate in live online sessions to increase your chances of being
successful. Both formats give students access to video recordings from live
sessions.
Free practise test
Students
can use the free practise test to prepare. It is offered annually, a few weeks
before the official contest. The test is similar to the official test but
doesn’t contain any problems from past official contests. Students will take
the test online in an exam environment. They will then see their scores with
the written solutions. This way, students will be fully prepared when the final
contest arrives.
Practise test book
This
contains practice tests with solutions to help students prepare for their final
exam. They are written by experts.
Practise test course
Another
way to do the AIME prep is to take the practise test course. These courses
give students an opportunity to review their materials and practice to master
their test-taking strategies.
